Regulate desires

It is nothing wrong to have desires as long as it serves the the purpose of life. It should only be assured that no harm can arise to self or others, at present or in the future, either mentally or physically.

We are aware that human mind can generate hundreds of desires at a stroke but most of the desires can not be achieved in practical terms. The result is frustration and vexation. Hence it is necessary to regulate our desires to lead a better, healthy and peaceful life.

.Vethathiri Maharishi gives a simple formula. Whenever a desire comes often to mind, analyse and ask yourself the following:

* Past experience on account of similar desire
* Can I not live without this material or enjoyment or person
* What will be the pros and cons on enjoyment of this desire
* Whether I have mental, physical and financial strength to achieve the desire

In this process one can eliminate the unwanted and unnecessary desires and can have only minimum, practically possible desires. This exercises should be repeated as long as we have a strong conclusion and when it is concluded we should have a auto suggestion to fulfill the desire. Please practice and have peaceful life. HAPPY DAY.

Generally it is believed that "desire" is the root-cause of all the miseries of man. It is being preached that if man wishes to be liberated from misery, he should give up desire in all forms. Is it so?

When the desire occurs with awareness after scrutiny, then such desire may be for a purposeful life. Desire is the proof of functioning of life and there is nothing wrong in it. Vethathiri Maharishi says that desire becomes harmful and sinful only when it grows beyond limits and causes pain to self or others at present or in future.

Desire should be allowed and directed to function in relation to satisfying natural  needs, so that fulfillment may not disturb one's peace of mind. In the long run, if an unnecessary desire is left unchecked and allowed to be repeated as a habit, it will become a psychic disease of man.

Desire will produce its result in time, according to its strength and pressure, provided its fulfilment is possible under the law of nature.

Hence the desire should always be with awareness and should be regulated, if one wants to enjoy a peaceful life. How to regulate desires? ... We will meet soon !

Many times we forget to hug our dads and tell him that we love him. We show our affections largely to mother, occasionally to father. We assume him to be a service provider for the family and he is expected to meet wishes of everybody. We fail to recognise his difficulties and his hard work to meet our requirements.

When we grow up, we argue for everything that he advises us, as though we know everything and we only more fit for this world. But later date we may realise how much he has sacrificed for us and how he protected us against many odds, but that realisation may be too late.

Recently I read,

Love your elders - God will love you ;
Respect your elders - Society will respect you ;
Care for your elders -  your children will care for you ;

Yes, it is true ! Let us explicitlly express our affection to our elders including our dad and respect them and make them feel that we are with them.

Happy day !

Expecting Recognition ?

We have done some thing new or completed the difficult task within the time frame and expecting recognition. Are we getting recognition as we expected, answer is 'no'. May be for name shake from somebody! People are jealous, their ego will not permit. Even somebody praise, may be because you are in power or they may expect some thing from you. If you loose your power they will talk all negatives about you.

There are people they will appreciate only in person,  one to one situation, thier ego will not permit them to appreciate in public or in open forum. Few others are always expect appreciation even for routine matters but they never appreciate others.

What we can do? Why we kill our self in striving for recognition?  We have certain duties and responsibilities. We will do our duty ethically and sincerely, we will get whatever we deserve, no body can stop it.

On the other hand, we can appreciate others! Why don't we make it a point that we should appreciate  at least one person each day for the services they have done or for their contribution to the welfare of any individual, corporation, society, etc.
